About The Role

MandM Direct Ltd has a unique and exciting opportunity for a Technical Analyst, to join our IT Operations team. Reporting to our Senior Technical Operations Analyst/Team Lead, you will be primarily responsible for supporting and enhancing the core technical infrastructure. 
 
Working with the latest infrastructure technologies both on-premise and within the cloud, as new technologies are considered, you would assist in the assessment of their suitability for our business needs. 

About You

Principal Accountabilities:
 
  • Actively participating and contributing in Infrastructure team meetings 
  • Providing support to 1st and 2nd line engineers and training where necessary 
  • Taking ownership and responsibility for diagnosing, solving and managing complex issues
  • Maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting the servers and core infrastructure
  • Actively operating either as part of a group or on your own with new installations and large projects 
  • Communicating clearly and effectively in written and verbal form with customers, colleagues and suppliers on all technical and non-technical levels
  • Keeping all stakeholders up to date and being mindful of any existing complexities in relationships therein
  • All work to be completed to a high standard following company procedures with all work being fully documented. 
  • Requirement to join an out of hours on-call rota after successful probationary period has been completed.
 
Experience in the following:
 
Essential
 
  • To work independently, be resourceful and show particular attention to detail.
  • Must have an aptitude to learn, develop and adapt as circumstances or technologies change. 
  • Active Directory, networking and TCP/IP 
  • Windows 2008/2012 Server administration/configuration 
  • Exchange 2010 
  • Experience with VMWare 
  • Switches e.g. HP Procurve (E Series)
  • Firewalls and VPN’s (Juniper)
  • Experience of Terminal Services 
  • DNS, DHCP administration
  • Linux / Unix (Centos, Redhat, HP-UX) 
  • Clustering and SAN/NAS storage (HP/Dell)
  • AD, advanced group policy and scripting
  • Scripting - Batch file and/or VBS scripting for server automation 
  • SQL 2008/2012 Server 
  • Apache and IIS.

Desirable:  

  • Industry recognised qualifications (CCNA/Microsoft)
  • Network Monitoring 
  • Load balancing technologies
  • Telephony (Avaya, VoIP)
  • Experience of handling 3rd party relationships.
  • Experience in managing Wireless networks
  • Experience in managing remote access systems
  • Experience of working in a Scrum / Agile environment.
