We're looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Shift Manager with strong previous hands on experience in a warehouse operations managerial role to ensure the smooth running of a shift operation at our distribution centre based at Moreton-on-Lugg, Herefordshire.
The role will be to lead, motivate and develop a team of Supervisors, Team Leaders and support staff, to achieve and maintain site business KPIs and to ensure the warehouse hits the daily shift budgeted performance targets.
Day-to-day duties and responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the effective performance of the department, including the management of equipment and resource, to achieve targeted KPIs and budgeted costs
- Monitoring and ensuring that all relevant shift target KPIs are achieved through effective management and labour resources
- Effectively managing attendance to maintain an effective labour resource, including the effective control of agency labour in line with the direct headcount budget
- Updating and maintaining reports for the warehouse operation, e.g. volumes, KPIs and productivity
- Ensuring the adequate communication of information to all members of staff, in particular that a daily brief is conducted at the commencement of each shift
- Developing a multi-skilled team of colleagues and support a succession plan through training, coaching, delegation and feedback
- Making certain that all matters of performance, capability and sickness are managed in accordance with Company procedure and that Company Policies are adhered to
- Ensuring information on time and attendance has been inputted in a timely manner for weekly payroll purposes by utilizing administration resource
- Checking adequate investigation and reporting of all accidents and near misses by MandM Direct staff, agency workers and contractors in line with Company policy
- Verifying all changes to policies and procedures, or any other change activity is fully implemented and supported throughout the change process
- Leading employees to create a culture which encourages safe behaviour and environmental best practice
- Maintaining the auditability and traceability of MandM Direct product movements
- Ensuring that customers goods are handled carefully and correctly in line with standard operating procedures and with due respect for the secure storage and transit of their goods
- Supporting the ‘Continuous Improvement’ culture on site by seeking improvements within the operation to maximise efficiencies and drive an increase in productivity
- Driving a safety culture whereby each team member operates with safety as the primary concern, and safety challenges to colleagues are encouraged and developed
- Ensuring the efficient and effective achievement of all operational targets and key performance indicators
- Making sure that customer requirements are fulfilled to the highest possible standards at all times.
Hours of work:
Full time onsite, working on a 4 on 4 off shift rota pattern between Monday and Sunday, 10.00am to 10.00pm.
